Who is Niko Katrine?

Niko Katrine is an author living in Portland, Oregon. She has had her non-fiction published 17 times, but in December 2026, she will be releasing her first fictional novel: Mainstays: Volume one of the Brand Families series. It will include more than 20 hand-drawn illustrations.When it comes to stories, Niko is most passionate about disability representation, LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC inclusion, as well as the importance of children, the freedom of religion/no religion, sprinkled with unending snarkiness.When she isn't writing stories or illustrating them, she's transcribing classes for deaf students enrolled in college and university . . . or she's hunting for the best cinnamon roll in town with her toddler.

How children shape us and heal us

Having my son as a single mother by choice, thus using a sperm donor, changed everything about me. He helped heal parts of me I thought were broken and loved parts of me I thought weren't lovable.P.S As I write this, he is hollering "FOOD" at the top of his lungs while hanging upside down

The TV show "Supernatural"

This TV show got me through some of the hardest times of my life. My dad's stroke. My first breakup. Living on the other side of the planet from my family. Regardless of which project by me you read, you'll see signs of the Winchesters' bond, cursing, self-sacrificing, and of course, their unending snark.P.S. If you're familiar with the Cal Leandros books by Rob Thurman, she's my hero author and put the same recommendation in her book for SPN.
